Reaching out for help is an act of courage. The opportunity to earn your trust and walk with you through your healing journey is something I hold sacred. One of my core principles is to see you in context of the entirety of your story including; your family history, sexual orientation, culture, race, religion, gender identity, class, and ability. All of these components of life contribute to who you are today and how you show up in the world. All are welcome.
The beauty of this type of approach is you are not your symptoms. Our bodies sometimes don’t know what to do with the pain we carry inside. This internal weight can come out in a number of ways that may not even make sense to us.
Often when we experience abuse, rejection, neglect, or overwhelming life events the effects can look like; anxiety, depression, difficulty with sleeping, eating disorders, addiction, struggles with sex and relationships.
I specialize in a type of trauma therapy called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This is a unique type of psychotherapy that often allows clients to process through their pain in a way that traditional talk therapy does not always afford.
I truly believe you already have everything you need to heal inside of you. Therapy is a unique environment designed to point you to the inner wholeness you had all along.
Certified EMDR Therapist
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A transformative and evidence based psychotherapy focusing on healing the effects of traumatic memories. In addition to completing all the requirements for certification I have completed ongoing training in treating complex trauma, dissociation, and PTSD.
Theories of Influence & Experience
Internal Family Systems (IFS): A unique therapy model which upholds that all people inherently have within them the power they need to heal. IFS gives us language for working with the wounded and protective parts of our system that may be keeping us stuck and help those parts find their way back to that internal power to heal.
Systems Theory: A compassionate approach which holds at it’s core that even the most complex presentations of mental illness can be understood by looking at an individual in context of all the complex cultural and familial influences beginning from childhood.
Eating Disorder Spectrum: Experience working on an outpatient clinical team treating the spectrum of individuals struggling with food & body related issues.
Substance Abuse and Dependency: Experience working in a partial hospitalization program with co-occurring disorders.
