Individual therapy

Individual therapy provides us with the opportunity to hold space for your story and find the best path to healing together.

What to expect in Individual therapy?

In your initial therapy session your therapist will do a comprehensive intake, answer any questions you have, and begin to develop a treatment plan together.

Our therapists have a wide range of experiences and are all operate from a holistic trauma informed approach. We are committed to seeing you in context of your story and honoring all the systems that have influenced the person you are today and how you show up in the world.

Some areas of advanced experience that our team has include; EMDR and trauma therapy, relationship therapy, dealing with narcissism and co- dependency, issues related to adolescents, and sand play therapy.

What is EMDR?

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation such as eye movements or other rhythmic left- right brain activation to decrease the symptoms that result from traumatic life events. There are a number of theories as to why EMDR is effective. One of them being bilateral stimulation seems to activate the brain in the same way that it is activated during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. This activation seems to have an effect on the way the brain processes information. There are still a lot of unknowns as to why EMDR is effective but over the last several decades of research and clinical experience we have seen that bilateral stimulation seems to reduce the vividness and reactivity associated with traumatic memories. After EMDR therapy people are able to recall these difficult life events but they no longer feel triggered by them in the moment.

What is Sand Play therapy?

Sand Play Therapy is an in-depth therapeutic approach that uses sand, water, and miniature figures to explore a person’s inner world. In the sand, clients create worlds that reflect their inner narrative which could include feelings/thoughts, struggles, gender roles, patterns, life transitions, and any part of the human experience.

Sand Play is a method that can be used by children, adolescents, and adults. It is especially useful in trauma work as it allows clients to represent their experiences without words.
