ELIZABETH KARLINSKI

Owner, MS, LMFT# 37FI00181000

I specialize in trauma-informed couples therapy. My work is most heavily influenced by Relational Life Therapy (RLT), which is a commonsense approach to working with couples that respects both individuals and the relationship itself. I also work with couples and individuals within the context of their larger system – meaning their relationships with themselves, others and the world around them. My trauma-informed approach to therapy is grounded in my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), both of which are highly effective, evidence-based trauma therapies.

I am also trained in substance use issues with experience working with individuals, couples, and families surrounding addictive behavior and beliefs and effects of addiction on relationships. My approach to addiction is one of warmth and acceptance.

Specialized Training & Theories of Influence

Relational Life Therapy: A model for couples therapy that helps partners resolve conflicts, develop personal accountability, improve communication, and foster intimacy in their relationship.

EMDR basic training completed.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based model, which goes beyond traditional talk therapy to address trauma as well as myriad adverse life experiences to help people move through stuck and painful places.

Systems theory: The perspective that we are a complex arrangement of beliefs, which are heavily influenced by our history, family of origin, relationships, and the world in general.

Internal family systems: A therapeutic approach that identifies and addresses the complex system of interacting parts within an individual.
