MS LPC #37PC00461200
I believe people have the capacity to heal and the ability to access inner strength. As a counselor, I help people along their journey by building a therapeutic relationship and provide mental health treatment tailored to the client’s needs.
My approach is to create a secure and nurturing space in order for clients to be vulnerable. I specialize in treating trauma utilizing EMDR, Sand Play, and mindfulness techniques. I have found that these non-direct modalities allow for the mind and body to process thoughts, emotions, and experiences organically, beyond the cognitive level alone.
Specialized Training
Basic EMDR training completed
Certificate in Sand Play Therapy
Theories of Influence & Experience
Sand Play Therapy uses figures and symbolism to tap into the psyche. Through this modality, clients create miniature worlds that reflect one’s inner narrative - the thoughts, struggles, gender roles, patterns, life transitions, and any part of our human experience. Sand Play is especially useful in trauma work as it allows clients to represent their experiences without words.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly researched trauma treatment that utilizes bilateral stimulation to process memories that have essentially become stuck in a trauma loop. When a person is traumatized, their body continues to react as if the trauma is ongoing. By trusting the nervous system’s wisdom, EMDR allows clients to reprocess the trauma memory and create a new response.
I have 12 years of experience providing therapy for adolescents and adults in outpatient settings including school-based programs, community-based agencies, and private practices.
